When I was travelling with Kahlil I routinely stopped at rest areas. =
Most of
them are excellent places to walk the horse, with lots of space to =
unload,
plenty of grass, sources of water, etc. I've only seen a few that were =
so small
and close to the highway that I would consider it a safety problem.

We took care not to walk the horse in picnic areas or to leave piles of =
manure
in the parking lot.

I was only hassled once, I think it was in Indiana. The proprietess of =
the
snack shop said we'd have to put the horse back on the trailer. I kept =
walking
him. She threatened to call a state trooper -- I said go ahead, call =
him. I
reloaded when I was ready and went on my way.
