<< i need help.. last summer my horse developed whelps on her back about
thirty minutes after a 25 miler in mississippi. she never showed signs
of a sore back at any ride. i only do limited distance. so i switched
from a saddle with a tree to a sport saddle and a cool back pad. i am a
heavy weight. the problem now is she still shows no signs of soreness
but her back is turning white under the saddle where my butt would
be???? has any one else had any problems like this with there treeless
saddles?

Mary: Sore or not, damage is being caused...sooner or later your horse WILL
be sore. The cause is the combination of a saddle with no support and a
rider being a heavyweight. Can't be helped except by changing saddles and
maybe some outside observations regarding riding style. You CAN help by
improving riding style and who doesn't need improvement?

Good luck,
