It may not be courteous, but realize that many rides are held on public
land..to be shared by many. On many rides I go to (and have managed) there
was NO way to prevent ANYONE from using the same trail at the same
time..fortunately, most thjink we are nuts and stay out of our way. So, you
can be an "unofficial" drag rider or even entrant in many cases.

In 3-day eventing, you can ride au concours (sp?)..meaning you pay to
compete with everyone else, but are not scored or considered in the final
standings. Many use this to get more experience.
