Pulse rate

I may have missed a message or 2 with the list being down, as
I saw this message in a reply from someone else - but noted the
comment that the horse has a resting heartrate of 48, thus
eliminating him from CTR....

You may lose a point or 2, but it certainly wouldn't eliminate
him from CTR...I have a gelding who rarely is down to 44 after
10 minutes - usually is at 48. My first year I worried and
worried that I was working him too hard. Then I did a LD
endurance. The vet there mentioned that 44 is really an
arbitrary number, not all horses are a "44", a 48 may be
their natural and normal rate. Since then, I haven't worried
at all - 1 point a a vet check doesn't matter to me. In the
endurance formats I have ridden, he is down to the required
60 or 64 as soon as I get in and dismount.
