Subject: our first ride and how do you get the # off??
greetings!

a lurker here, de-lurking...

i know this has been discussed before, but at that point i had not
gone on a ride yet, and didn't pay any attention...

how the heck do you get the grease paint number off your horse??
(short of shaving it off??? :-) )

i do not just want it to 'wear' off...i hate having my horse look like
an auction horse :-(

someone at the ride (hunter's run in humble, TX...thanks, anita
burson, for a great ride!) told me (after the number was already ON
my horse, of course :-) ) that spraying show sheen on beforehand
would make it easier to get off..

Hi Cyndi!

I don't take my number off! We wear it like a badge of honor!

I was at my dressage lesson one day last spring riding my little grey mare,
Buhni. One of the more "serious" dressage riders was watching our lesson.
She asked my instructor, half in disgust, "What is that "stuff" on that
horse's rump?" (Referring to the two week old, partly obliterated # on
Buhni's hip).

"That's marking crayon." Raeann replied. "Buhni is our Endurance Horse.
She does 100 milers!" Raeann beamed. (Raeann always calls all the horses
at her lessons "OUR" horse, but she is particularly proud of Buhni, due to
her endurance accomplishments).

Another dressage rider was standing nearby. (This person was less
"anal-retentive" than the first and had a sense of humor). She chimed in,
"It looks like a Neo-nazi emblem. She must be a 'Grey Supremacist'!"

If nothing else, those left-over numbers are worth a good laugh at a
dressage lesson!
