A colleague introduced me to Michael, co-owner of Ariat boots today. The
conversation went like this:
HIM: Do you ride?
ME: Yes
HIM: Do you own our boots?
ME: No
HIM: Why?
ME: Because a lot of your models are made in China and as a consumer, I do
my best not to buy products made in China.
HIM: Haaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaa (big arrogant and condescending laugh) Why?
ME: Because of the well documented human rights violations.
HIM: I go to China a lot and I have never seen any.

He then started examining what I was wearing from top to bottom and declared
that the YKK zipper on my top was made in China.

ME: How come you don't give the work to American workers?
HIM: Oh, with OSHA, you have to give them 20 coffee breaks a day, the
productivity is low and the quality is the worst, we tried it and we had tons
of returns.

At that point, my colleague inerrupted and asked him about his Porsche.

HIM: Which one? let me tell you about the new Mercedez I just bought, it is
sitting outside..... (and they went on talking cars)

Sure, people can spend their money where they want, sports cars included. As
for me, I know for sure where my hard earned $ will NOT be spent and I hope
that you think about it next time you buy boots. Happy riding.
