If you are not in it to win and she was doing well before you laid her off,
then why not give it a try. Go slow and if problems arise be ready to pull
- there is no shame in pulling. Misty did her first fifty three months
after her foal was weaned. She had plenty of conditioning on her till the
ninth month and she was in good shape - so went out to just finish. We
rode slow and ended up in the top ten because a lot of riders blew their
horses out. Don't think I didn't learn a valuable leason on that one.
