If you tie the leadrope so that it mimics a tiedown but with a little
more give, then it shouldn't flop around all that much. I usually ball
up several lengths of baler twine--I can fix anything with it & it will
hold a horse to a tree if the lengths are long enough to be used as a
lead rope--tough on the hands but I always wear gloves anyway.
