We used to find that small items would be lost in the trailer, despite
storage chests and brush racks. We have started using a hanging
"pocket organizer". It is made of cordura w/ several pockets on each
of 2 or 3 rows. It hangs from our bridle holders in the trailer, and
easily stores brushes, hoof picks, fly spray bottles, 'lytes, etc.
It is GREAT! As many years as I have been doing this, I always get a
little disorganized before the ride starts. It's nice to stay
organized this way and gain a little extra storage space in a smaller
trailer.

Crew Sponges - One can never have too many sponges!! (Just look down
the trail after the herd has passed. You could open a tack store w/
what is lost!) My crew used to always leave the sponges behind at
vet checks, or have a dry sponge fall out of the truck as they travel
(excuse? Good crew is so hard to find!<g>) We have started putting a
strap w/ a snap thru the grommet of the sponge and snapping it to the
handle of a bucket. (Not AS MANY lost sponges now.)

We have also gotten tired of pumping fly spray bottles. (It is hard
to imagine flies when there is snow on the ground!) We have started
using a 2 gallon garden sprayer. You pump the canister w/ a plunger,
and spray the horses w/ the wand. One horse, who was abused w/ whips
before we rescued him, was the only one to have any objections. The
wand does look a little like a riding crop. The large volume of the
cannister is not a problem since we mix our own recipe for fly spray.
This is great for taking on long weekends in the trailer.

I hope that these ideas are helpful to somebody. They really work
for us.
