Just as a point of information, I have expanded slightly on the post
regarding molasses additives:

>Commonly Used Perservatives:
>Propionic Acid

Is a normal product in the process of carbohydrate metabolism in the horse

>Acetic Acid (acidulant)

ever hear of vinegar?

>Ascorbic Acid

Commonly known as vitamin C
>
>Commonly Used Surfactants
>Propylene Glycol

A substance often used to treat certain metabolic problems, particularly
ketosis of late pregnancy in ruminants.

>Propylene Glycol is testable in the saliva and the urine horses.

Whether or not one uses feeds made with molasses is up to them. I just get a
little testy when I get the impresssion that chemical names of common
substances are being used to unduly alarm folk. I also would be interested
to know the concentration of thes additives in the molasses. Certainly large
quantities of these things would probably be detrimental, but that is true
of grain itself in the diet of the horse.

BTW, if you feed pelleted feeds, be aware that they often contain more
molasses than sweet feeds. Molasses is the most common binder for pellets.
