I belong to PNER (Pacific Northwest Endurance Rides).  I just paid my $25 
individual membership for next year.  Most of their rides are AERC 
sanctioned, and you get a discount (about $5) on the ride fee, if you are 
and AERC member.  But you still pay the ride fee....they run about $50.  
What's this about AERC rides costing $5 for members???!!???
As many of you know I am a newcomer to endurance riding.  And as such, 
have not done any rides yet.  The rides that I have planned on doing, and 
will probably end up doing, will be PNER rides.  Because they are close to 
me, and I know people who do them.  I had been planning on becoming an 
AERC member, to get the discount at rides, and in order to get the 
newsletter and such.  Is this worth $65?  * NOT * !!!!  Nevermind....I'll 
just stick with PNER.
Count me in as one of those people who will probably do more training and 
dreaming, than actual competing.  The rides that I do will be limited 
distance, and this is definitely NOT worth $90 a year in membership fees, 
PLUS ride fees!
