I don't feel the AERC has done enough to promote the sport. I for one
have been looking for this sport (in the wrong places) off and on for 10
years. I happened to find the 2 line notice in the bowels of a local
magazine. That was at Pendelton last year. Now my mare and I have 250 miles
in one year and all on limited distance rides. Yes, we want to move up to
50's this year, and I have gotten my best friend hooked, along with my 9 year
old Daughter(55 miles so far) and my friend's 16 year old daughter. All
this because I just happened to find the notice.
I know I am not the only one out there that doesn't know how or where to
start, my suggestion to the AERC ( are you listening? ) is, OK I'll send in
my (gulp) $75 for this next year, but ADERTISE, ADVERTISE,ADVERTISE!!!!!

When was the last time any of you saw a notice up for a local ride in
other than EN or at a ride from the next ride manager? If ride managers want
more riders, then they need to get the word out. Tell people what we are,
who we are and when we will be there. People that don't ride but love horses
would come to watch, cheer or maybe even volunteer for something!
I'll get off my soapbox for a moment then, and see you at Sunland ( With
my heater on full blast after last year)
