I got a card in the mail some time ago...does anyone know
what type of event this is ? The $35,000 prize scares me-
that's the sort of thing folks will risk a horse's health
for.

It reads:

Bozeman Trail Bonanza '95 HORSE RACE ( annual event)
Sept 24-Oct 2nd, 1995

Staged- Timed Race ( what the heck does that mean ?)
Route includes Crow Indian Reservation
Purse $300,000 distributed
Two categories of entry : Individual ($35,000 1st)
Team ($75,000 1st)

Full course (4) animals entered
Leg (Dist. between stop over cities) (2) animals
