There is really no pat answer to this - it depends a lot on the horse. I
usually play it by ear. If the horse is ready we will do a ride - if not
we won't.
During the summer we generally rest. I don't like to do back to back rides
but have on occasions. In the five month period between Nov through March
we did 450 miles (3 100's and 3 50's) first - almost 100 miles a month. We
both needed a couple months rest after this. This is about a hard as I
would push it.
