AERC International Goes High Tech!

AERC International News is now available "on line" through e-mail
and the Internet! Those needing more timely International news
(or those just interested in what's happening sooner) can sign up
for an electronic "mailing list" recently established by
Stephanie Teeter of Princeton, Idaho. Once you sign up (or
"subscribe" in computerese) the monthly newsletter will be sent
to your computer as soon as it is available. We are also in
contact with endurance riders in Europe and hope to bring you
news of interest from there as well.

In addition, this endurance only mailing list is a lively forum
for anyone interested in endurance in general from all over the
country and indeed the world. The past few weeks have seen
discussions ranging from the pros and cons of biothane used for
tack, to tying up problems, to use of leg wraps after a ride.
Any subscriber can join in and people from Europe as well as the
United States regularly do, including veterinarians and other
knowledgeable professionals.

Stephanie has also established an "Endurance Riders Home Page" on
the "World Wide Web" (part of the Internet). The Home Page
currently has some reference material (the AERC Bylaws, for
example), and other information of interest to endurance riders
in general. The Home Page also carries the AERC International
News and will soon be home to the International Bylaws and
various articles and helpful information for those interested in
getting involved in International (or those just wondering what
it is all about).

Anyone with a computer (from a 15 year old Apple on up), a modem
(they can be purchased for as little a $10.00 from some sources),
and communications software (free from on line services such as
Compuserve) can sign up for the mailing list. Access to e-mail
is available from all the major on line services and numerus
other services as well. Even if you don't have a computer, you
can arrange for a friend/neighbor/relative/business to receive
the information for you. Access to the Home Page is a bit more
complicated, but is becoming more accessible now that Compuserve,
Prodigy, America Online and others have Internet access for their
members.

For those already up to speed on e-mail, the mailing list is
technically a "listserv" and you can "subscribe" automatically
(the mailing list is free). To subscribe to the endurance list,
send e-mail to:
endurance-request@moscow.com with the body of 'subscribe' (do not
include the quotes)
If you prefer a digest of the day's messages to receiving each
message as it is sent, send e-mail to:
endurance-digest-request@moscow.com with the body of 'subscribe'

Access the Endurance Riders Home Page at the following URL
(please note new address):

For more information on how to sign up, contact Stephanie Teeter
