Kathy,

I rode the 25 last year as my first endurance ride. I too had not ridden in
competition for many years - 23 to be exact. But I grew up conditioning on
those hills as a kid living in Moraga. The trails are very nice, soft and
well kept. There are lots of trees (eucalyptus and redwood) to keep you cool
and then some open areas that can get pretty hot. But the ride is a fast one,
be careful. There are not many ups and downs, or rather few dire ones, and
many people just bomb the whole way. Last year the first place finisher was
in after 21/2 hours. They make a loop back to camp with a mandatory one hour
hold. It goes by quickly. The most water you'll find is at the vet checks and
usually George (Linda's dad) is there with the water hose that never gets
turned off. The trail can be tricky in places (several of us got off track a
bit last year) but at all major turns they have staff waiting to point you in
the right direction. It's an extremely well managed ride. Ridgeway is usually
the head vet on that ride and there are a lot of ol' endurance riders to be
seen. Walt Tibbits rode last year if I remember right.

Say Hi to George and Linda Wagnon from me, Linda Johnson. We were neighbors
once and have been long family friends. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
