BC and other awards

> In this area, it has beconme common for management to give you your t
shirt at entry, whether you finish or not -
> eases> the pain of being pulled a little.

>sigh< But lessens the joy of finishing. One of my pet
peaves...finishing a ride and not getting to walk up that aisle. If it's
a completion award it should be for completion. AERC rules require a
completion award...not a "I paid an entry" award. Who ever heard of "To
enter is to win?"

When my handicapped friend completed she felt she had done such a big
thing...hadn't been at all sure she'd finish, and she did! But alas, she
already had her t-shirt, no "moment" at the awards meeting. I don't like
getting one when I don't finish. That t-shirt just serves as a reminder
that I failed. Brings back bad memories. I think the main reason
management started doing it is so that the people who just fly through
the course and want to be home for supper won't hound the ride manager
all day wanting them to drop what they're doing and get their award for
them.
