Re: RC: saddle favorites

My favorite so far is my DeSoto!

Had a Circle Y, then a Sharon Saare. Circle Y was a barrel saddle, and
I liked it for what it was, but I didn't need a barrel saddle. I only
bought it because it was in great shape, and fit my then 3-year old
mare. I only used it for training for a couple of years.

The Sharon Saare was nice looking with good quality leather, but the
seat was very uncomfortable, even with padding. It was also pretty
heavy. It did not fit my horse correctly either - even after having a
rep bare-tree fit my horse before ordering it. It was way too wide in
front.

The DeSoto is extremely comfortable to ride, and feels very close
contact. It has a nice narrow twist with good padding. It is really
lightweight too, which I love - I can easily sling it up on my horse
with one arm. The workmanship is great - all handmade, nothing from a
factory. It fits my horse very well too. She hasn't had a sore back
yet in the 5 months I've had the saddle.
