Cycstic Ovaries

I have a series of questions - am looking for any information or 
experience that you all can share:

How common are ovarian cysts that cause discomfort & behavioral problems?

How complicated is the surgery?  Are only the ovaries removed?  Are both 
ovaries generally removed, even if only one is cystic?

How benign is the surgery (re: complications or long-term effects)?

What's the recovery period, and how costly is the surgery?
