[RC] kicking question - Alice Yovich

is there any way to train a horse not to kick the horse behind him? Or are horses kickers or not kickers? My mare has never actually kicked anyone, but when she's in heat and if a strange horse comes up behind her, she will kick up and make a noise, almost like she's flirting. I've about decided I should go with a red ribbon, just in case, but normally it's not an issue. And I would like to teach her to stop it.
