Re: [RC] Wolf teeth, tusks in 9 yr old geld. - Jennifer Judkins

Hey Laurie,  I bought my 5 yr old with wolf teeth. Didn't know it at the time and never had problems with them.  However my equine dentist (yes only the best for my boys) said they had to go and out they came.  It was simple and straight forward.  No complications.  Manny was eating normally in an hour or so.  So I guess I would say find a good dentist.  Sounds like they need to come out.  Jennifer.

PS I think the procedure including a routine float  and sedation cost  me 120.00.  Where do you live?

Now I know why Rascal's been chomping and starting to moving his head all
over the place. Never being one to let you open his mouth (the vet at the
clinic said to work on him letting them check his Cap. refill).I did a check
yesterday, (can finally get him to tolerate opening his mouth to see more
than 2 seconds.) I noticed the bit (waterford) was bumping these small
pointy teeth about 1/2 inch tall on top ;andthe bottom ones are about an
1-1.5 inches below them. So anywhere the bit tries to "set" it is probably
bumping these teeth. Duh. I know what wolf teeth are.
Funny I had the vet check and float him a year or so ago(vet said he
really didn't need it). and had never had a problem before. I wonder if they
    could have "comein late".
So you think these would be a problem to remove , considering his age(read
something in archives about that)?Or could they just be filed down and is
this an expensiv e prochedure? My vet of course , stopped practicing and I
have to get another now. darn.
Obviously I have a bit problem now till I get it fixed. (My husband said
he'd kill me if I get a horse dentist, when we all could use more work
:0)(some people have teeth and the rest have fillings :0{} Laurie and
Rascal the "wolf tooth" eh, "teeth".
