[RC] Conditioning with weight - Roger Rittenhouse

Yes I do this all the time.
My normal ride weight is just over HW 215.
In the summer if I go very lite - I may be 210.
So at home I load up the saddle packs with sand in bags and or grain.
Also have carried rocks in the packs.
In the front I carry sand or beer in the front packs.. of course the
weight goes down as we ride on... hi howard..
I try to ride at 220 to 225 at least 5 pnds over normal. When I
conditioned for the NC in NM I rode with 15 pnds or more extra stuff.
Then I did many rides with all the gear and 'stuff' I wanted to take
with me on trail. I make sure they are conditioning with more weight then I
plan on riding in actual competition. Then if I have to load up with
other gear they are not over stressed.

I did this when I did road running. Ankle weight, waist weights etc..
     gets you stronger faster.
