Re: [RC] Fungus Among Us Try Peroxide - Kelly Spencer

Sorry to hear what a mess you have but you are not alone. Out of 8 horses only 2 don't have it. The other six have various amounts of coverage. Yes, it rained forever during our usually nice falls in E TX. We are using hydrogen peroxide right now and brushing against the hair so it stands up(do before the peroxide is put on). I have used peroxide successfully in the past. I have not been feeding the bagged alfalfa so will also restart that as I think it has some good healing properties. Seems the horse has to have an immunity worked up like with the damn worts. We are on the mend with the warts on the nose. In the past 20+ yrs of horse ownership never had warts till last fall. Only the young ones got them so guess that immunity level is now up. The ones who got the warts are the ones who have the rain rot the worst. I had to work when the Armadillo ride happened and did not have a horse or myself ready after being off for 6 weeks with broken leg and collar bone. Some yrs just don't go so well!! I have never tried shaving as have never had it this bad before either. Mary Ann & Kelly
