[RC] Endurance AND show? - SandyDSA

Just a quickie - since we had asked about this before - yes you can - but probably tougher to show at A level and do well whilst competing in endurance. The B Circuit - California Arabian Circuit - is fun, competitive and actually hires reasonably knowledgeable judges. One judge was thrilled to find out that oru stallion, ridden by our 15 year old daughter, was also an endurance horse! You should try this kind of thing if it is available. Sal managed to earn PB Year End High Point Stallion, Year End HP Junior Western Equ Rider, PH Western PLeasure, and HP Western Equ Rider. Now he is getting ready hopefully for Warner, assuming my sorry butt gets back in shape in time. People think and endurance horse just flies on down the trail with no thought to balance, engagement, etc. Well, some decent ring work can produce those things and schooling for these kinds of shows is a rewarding way to make it count - twice! Bottom line is that a well balanced, properly engaged, well rounded horse is a pleasure to ride on trail as well. I just LOVE being able to drop a leg on my horse's flank and get a lovely half pass right around a pothole - never having to slow our pace! Our horses also have been schooled and/or shown over fences, so no obstacle is too much for them.

The biggest shock to us - after decades I the show ring and over a  decade now in endurance - was seeing that so few show people bother to water of feed their horses at shows. We REALLY liked the last judge getting up in one gal's face about how her horse was "out fo shape" and Tired" and that she needed to pay more attention to her horse's condition - the horse in question being an A show winner previously.

So there - you can do it....sometimes!
