I just moved from our house last year that bordered the
Half Moon Bay Airport in CA where Jessica took off from.
As with most accidents, it wasn't just one thing. The FAA
accident reports are online. When Jessica and her
instructor took off in Colorado the weather was bad, but
her plane was also overloaded. A BIG no-no... especially
in bad weather and at altitude.

As to Larrissa, the 5yo Maryben sponsered on her first 50,
she was most likely safer with Maryben as her mom was
probably out in front on Rodney that year, and her dad was
probably crewing and shoeing for the ride. Who did she
ride, Maryben? Crystal? She was definately safer on
Crystal that she would have been on the ground at any ride.
She'd probably already ridden those Quicksilver trails
many times already. Did you ride Dusty or your Blue? Or
were you still riding Ug? Good calm steady horses, all.

As to how many other rides she did, Larrissa Voight was
Jr. National Champion later in her junior career if I
    remember right.

It's hard to judge situations if you weren't there, as we
all find out on Ridecamp at one time or another.
