In my opinion, there are only three things needed to have a good ride - a well marked trail, enough water on trail, and good vets. Davenport Dare had all three of these as well as lots of extras -a nice basecamp, hay for horses at the vet checks, nice awards, a snack shack to buy Friday dinner and lunch on Saturday, a wonderful awards dinner with lots of food including chips and salsa, GREAT WEATHER - there was little to no wind and it wasn't too cold in the morning when we started or too hot during the ride. I loved having signs marking the water stops and vet stops. I thought it was well organized and the management and volunteers I met were very nice and helpful.
