Thank you for a wonderful ride. It was amazing what I missed on the first time around on the course. I asked Linda "was that there the first time we went through?" and then I would see something right after that I remembered. Funny.
There was some good sand training and it was amazing how many grades we pulled. It looked like it was flat but it wasn't!!!
We did have to pay attention to the ribbons and the turns. I missed my fare share. Certainly makes one pay attention!!!
My horse, Abraxas All aka Guy, did very well even though he dug a hole to China the day before. Maybe he is doing multi day training?
Guy is 15/1 and with the hole he then became 16 hands. LOL. Had to saddle outside of his pen.
It took time for Guy to adjust to the work at hand but at the last vet check he finally figured out to go home, you had to have a good fast recovery. Yea! There is hope for him. This is his 4th ride and 3rd completion. I have ridden him 2 times and we have finished 2nd both times. Jen Nice rode him in his first and he completed 11th and then in another the sand pulled him.
The vets were really nice and in good spirits I thought.
The food was to die for. All I can think of was how good it was and I ate all that was on my plate. That is a first.
THank you ride management and all of the volunteers at the Davenport Dare. Job well done. Thank you also for putting in for great weather for the ride.
