Re: [RC] Body protectors - Angie Orr

    Deb,

Just like anything else the company is not going to guarantee anything that would put them at a liability. I've mentioned before my boyfriend races motocross, he broke his neck 3 years ago. He now wears a MX neckbrace when he races which prevents his neck from going too far to each side or to the back -although the package claims to help it does state that it does not PREVENT injuries and it really doesn't, nothing does, it just helps. The label keeps them from being liable for anyone who wears it that does get hurt. I never looked before but I imagine the box our helmets come in say something similar. Just wear it - it will HELP to protect you from those injuries.

From: Deblyons54@xxxxxxx Subject: [RC] Body protectors

I suffered a fairly severe spinal fracture this summer in a riding fall.
Horse spooked, did a fast 180 spin that I was not at all ready for, and
landed on my back. I purchased a body jacket for next spring. (Hopefully my
post traumatic stress will be reduced by then). I purchased the one with the
highest protection. It's like wearing a vest made from thick plywood, plus it
says on the package insert that it does not protect against, torsion
injuries, spinal injuries, etc., etc. What exactly are they good for? I was
hoping that this vest would prevent or minimize trauma to my back in a fall
but I'm not sure if it prevents against a lot of anything. Would appreciate
    any feedback.
    Deb
