[RC] The Power of Ridecamp - kathy . mayeda

I've been on Ridecamp for a few years now, and have
been part of many flame wars. I used to assume that
everyone in endurance is reading Ridecamp.

I have tried to talk to my endurance buddies at my barn
about my flame wars with TI and a few other topics, but
most of them don't even have a clue about what I'm
talking about and don't really care. And I'm talking
about endurance riders from FEI level to newbies. They
are too busy training their horses and trying to make
ends meet to do what they love.

Don't get me wrong. A week without peeking into the
archives is very rare for me. I love reading what
the "back East" people are ranting and raving about.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, we are preparing to do our
winter night rambles thru the woods to keep our horses
conditioned. I'm the "lazy" one of the bunch that
foregoes consistent conditioning, burning the midnight
oil at my "real" work, putting out the local endurance
club newsletter, and logging onto Ridecamp.

Ride on, folks. It takes all types of folks to make
the world go around, and Ridecamp is just a small slice
of the AERC membership. The power or Ridecamp can't be
discounted but it can be over-rated.

I, myself, been letting it be my forum for making my
voting decisions. Been too lazy to think about it on
my own for the moment. (Or just too burned out.)

    K.
