RE: [RC] Mules - Anna Larson

I have a mule with a very arab type head and she is not even half arab! Her
mother was a pinto pony. We also owned a half arab mule who has traveled
cross country in 1976 for the bi-centienial celebration. That mule had less
of a arab type head than my mule, but she did have a nice and refined head.
You can get some very refined mules from Quarterhorses (you know some of
those quarterhorses already have an arab head). You can also get just about
any color. we have had lepoard appaloosa mules, various pinto mules, and my
own mule is a brindle pinto. also You can get some really nicely gaited
mules. My mom bred her jack (who is gaited) to several different gaited
breed mares (peruvian, walker and foxtrotter) and we got gaited foals from
all these crosses. Sometimes you get suprises to. My mule's mother is all
of about 13.3 hands and the second mule foal she had for us ended up being
almost 16 hands when the jack was also one about 14 hands. We also owned
another mule from a 14 hand jack and a 14.2 hand TB mare who ended up closer
    to 17 hands.

Here is a question for you mule riders out there. If you bred a typey
arabian to a donkey would you get a more typey mule??? If you bred a
    quarter
horse to a mule would you get a stockier mule??? I was just wondering
because i've yet to see a mule with an arab dish. Thanks!

I have not heard of any arab mules. Personality would be something else.
    if any one has one
Dr. Hamilton one of the Sask ride vets and a department head at the vet =
college would like to hear from you.
Says he will ride endurance when we find him an arab mule.
He feels quite safe that will never happen
