I have invented ridiculous verses for Ol Macdonald, usually referring to couches and refrigerators as we pass them.. . . singing in a monotone helps him go right past bashed tvs, and almost!!! the deer carcuss and 3 vultures snacking on it when we went round the corner . Friday. I figured it was a poacher dump, cause the 2 fish that were dumped with it were still fresh. ... YYuuuccch send me camp songs, I never got to go to camp.Sometine with more verses than "99 bottles of beer on the wall. . Laurie and Rascal

There's an old Weaver's song that makes a great trail song, because
it's easy to make up verses for it as you go along. It also has a
simple refrain, and the refrain fills half of the verses as well.
Kids can learn it in about ten seconds.

    The refrain goes:

"Hey la li la li la li,
Hey la li la li lo,
Hey la li la li la li,
Hey la li la li lo."

Verses are couplets, with some of the same lines in between. For
example, you can sing praises to your own horse:

    "See this handsome chestnut horse,
Hey la li la li lo,
He's the best horse on this course!
Hey la li la li lo."

You can sing about the trail:

"This trail goes up, this trail goes down,
Hey la li la li lo,
When will I see some level ground?
Hey la li la li lo."

    You can sing about competitors:

    "Mackay-Smith was once our Prez,
Hey la li la li lo,
I don't understand a single word he says!
Hey la li la li lo."

    "Val Kanavy's comin' on,
Hey la li la li lo,
Don't blink your eyes or she'll be gone,
Hey la li la li lo."

Of course you can make up verses about anyone you're riding with:

"See that gal in the bright blue tights,
Hey la li la li lo,
Gee, but her smile sure is bright!
Hey la li la li lo."

Don't forget to sing a chorus between each verse ... it can go on and
    on.

    Oh, one of my favorites:

"My butt is chafed, my feet are sore,
Hey la li la li lo,
But what the hell, let's ride some more!
Hey la li la li lo."
