I'll have to agree with you on that one, Howard. I also want to add that if
your gelding's sheath starts to swell and when you call the vet about it, he
says "It's probably an insect bite".......that's code for "you need to clean
out his bean"!
Had this happen to me twice with two separate geldings I had purchased and I
found it hilariously funny that two separate vets said two separate times
that "It's an insect bite. Let me come look at it." I decided to clean
their sheath out first and, whala! They were just fine! I think maybe I'm
using the wrong vets, wouldn't ya say!
Guess what I'm saying is I believe in doing preventative cleaning before the
bean starts effecting his ability to pee! It may not bother the horse, for
all I know, but it sure makes me cringe when I walk out to a horses stall and
see two bowling balls (swelling!) hanging down under where his sheath used to
be! :-)
