I've never thought about why I don't wear one. I just don't. I have two
VERY GOOD helmets. A Charles Owen crasher for eventing, and a Wembley cap
for showjumping / dressage. Both of them are sitting in my show trommel,
waiting for the next time I'm compelled to wear them by rules.

It's got nothing to do with trying to make a statement / fashion (I wear a
baseball cap when I ride which gives you worse helmet head than any helmet),
or anything, it's just not something I think about.

I'll confess that I'm a hypocrite - my students ALL wear helmets, even on
the flat. Case of "do as I say, not as I do".

If I'm riding a new horse, or one who's a known dork, I'll put a crasher on.
I just don't on my own horse. But then, he's also the only horse I feel
safe riding when I'm pregnant. I know that accidents can happen, and that
when they do, they're really fast, and I'm not trying to defend my lack of
helmet wearing, just pointing out that I don't feel unsafe without one.

Not even when I'm jumping :(

    I'm a bad, bad girlie!

    Tracey
PS I'm also a perverse little chicken as I NEVER ride without gloves and a
    crop!
