[RC] Some Final Comments - well NOT - Roger Rittenhouse

    FROM Roger Rittenhouse roger@xxxxxxxxxxx
Ok time for me to back off also.
I THANK the riders and the few directors for taking their time to
consider my comments and ranting over the past week.
I have had more positive and negative responses here ,
then when I tried to discuss some of these same issues on the bod
    list.
At least I know a good number of the riders are thinking and may take some
    action.
or may not. BUT at least try and address the real issues about our sport.

I believe most of the respondents have done a great job in defending
their positions. I have REALLY read all of them - weather I agree with
    you or not.
You never know when the right button will be pushed that will cause me
    to re-think my position.

Discussion about and over the issues leads to resolution. THAT was all
that I was looking for - some intelligent thought out discussion.
Just to let you know I dont sit here and slam dunk these papers out
from the hip - as some believe.
I have read them over at least 3 to 4 times and made corrections.
I also try to make sure I convey MY position clearly.
I have failed to do that in some cases. I will let it go for now.

I was working on a larger post - with some rebuttals but I think not at
    this time.

I am going to work on some point papers about feeding. OPS - THAT
will bring (Dr in Waiting) Susan out of the barn again..hehe.

For now on the political issues and my position with the bod is best
    to let quite down.

I still believe the board in general, is very low key, most tend to say
or do almost nothing.( at least 'live' on the BOD closed list. ) One
never knows what goes on in private.?
I had hoped to develop more discussion on some
of these issues with more members other then Randy, Mike M and Steph .

I said last year the board is too large. It is sort of dysfunctional -
due to the size and many just let someone else do the job. Along with
the problem of not wanting to step on anyones' toes. Or really piss
someone off, THEN YOU - who complains the loudest , JUST may have to
fix the problem. Or go away.

Mostly I see the board of many run by a few. It really is easier that
way. I suspect I am not taken seriously. I excepted more - interaction
    and discussion on significant issues.
I respect so many of the members very much, I have know them for years.
    It all a bit unsettling.
I resent being ignored and set aside - I think that is the most
significant point I wanted to make. To just ignore the point and
    questions made by a
member like I was not there-or to make of hand comments and to be
treated as a 'lessor' is insulting and unacceptable.

No comment from most not even 'go to h.. and shut up fool'.
Randy ALWAYS comes back and maybe most believe he
is taking care of me, so they dont have to comment.

Carol has been reading some of the issues and she is more intense then
I am. She really wants to get out of the sport.

What ever the case, reason or situation. I cannot work with this board
under these conditions. My effort is wasted.
Like I said I feel like more of the problem then a solution.
Let some other 'fool' jump in there and try to work out the issues. It
sure is not for me anymore. Rebuttal will say I dont know how to play
the game or it takes years to work things out, or we already did that. I
have heard them all too many times. I dont do politics very well.

I have one more meeting to attend, I an obligated to do that.
And I already have the plane tickets. What else is there to do
     in SLC in Aug?

Actually, I have 2 more. I am not sure it is worth my effort or time to be
involved. But I will go and sit there.
Vote my convictions - if there is anything to vote on.

I said I was never - ha- that word again-- never going to get into the
politics of my sport, well I did. Sure wont happen again.

Carol and I are just going to pleasure ride around this summer and I
hope to get back into LDs by fall.

It has been interesting but not rewarding.

I will not seek re-election as DAL for the AERC BOD.

Hope everyone riding this weekend in the SE and else where has a good
    ride... and safe ride.

on to the feeding papers ...maybe I should write a book called
'WISH I was Ten Feet Tall' -- thanks Julie for you book, incite and
support of the AERC Trails Fund
