Re: [RC] pads with OF saddle - Ed and Wendy Hauser
Wendy and I have used OF with various horses for many years. If you have
them shimmed properly (about 1 in 5 horses need some shims), you don't
really need anything under them.
I come from the old school, so we use pure wool saddle blankets under them.
This completely eliminates any loin rubbing. You can wash them and I change
at vet checks. The only thing is on some horses the blanket will tend to
bunch up between the panels. I have found that a piece of the rubber mesh
stuff used to keep tools from shifting in mechanics tool boxes between
blanket and panel stops this.
The same idea for campers or kitchen drawers works fine also, but is not as
heavy duty. The light duty stuff wears out in 3 or 4 seasons.
