Re: RC: long backed arabians

Karen,
I own a 7 yo SW Dawid daughter.  I think the racing arabs may be selected for slightly longer than average backs, although Rusty's isn't particularly long.  (She didn't go very fast on the track either!).  As long as the rest of her is put together well, I don't think a long back is too much of a drawback.  I don't like a long back (= weak loin) with a poor rear end and with sickle hocks; that is asking for trouble.

I am contemplating the purchase of a five year old SW Dawid daughter.  She
is big boned, large bodied and stands about 15.2(really!)  However, she is
long backed for an arab.  Perfect for a thoroughbred or a quarter horse.
Is a long backed arab that undesirable for endurance?

Thanks for any thoughts!  karen
