Re: RC: Buying First Endurance Horse
One cause of a horse that is a hard keeper, particularly if they didn't used
to be, is over conditioning, or in a non endurance rider, just flat riding
the horse too hard/fast. I overconditioned my mare the first couple seasons
and my friend also overcond- itioned her horse. Maybe the horse WAS tired
out, and the owner was too blind to see it, or didn't realize that a horse
will run just to get it (the ride) over with. I have to be careful with my
mare, as somedays she likes to go, but other days she's just in a big hurry
to get home. jeri
