Re: Ride Dogs@Rides

I have NO PROBLEM with people who bring their dogs to an endurance ride.  I do have a problem with the people who do not control their dogs,  (let them run loose, and or  leave droppings all over the place etc, etc.)
So please remember there are such things as leash laws, and a lot of people do not like dogs!

Subject: RC: Ride Dogs

I take three dogs with me on training rides--a Rhodesian, a lean Chesapeake
retriever and a Carolina Dingo dog.  All three breeds work in the hot and
humid area in which I live.  They are great for scattering turkeys before my
mare sees them and great for intimidating unknown characters on the trail.
They aren't mean but three dogs barking does sort of make one be
cautious(gr).  I find that the horses get used to animals jumping out of the
brush when they have had dogs with them on the trail.. One word of
warning---get a shorthaired dog or you will be picking out burrs for days!
