You add calcium to balance it back but if you add phosphorous too you never catch up. That's from memory and I could have it mixed up. Why don't you ask Susan Garlinghouse. I was happy when I discovered dicalcium phosphate because it was packaged for horses and it gave me confidence to be sure it was edible. But then I mentioned it on ridecamp and someone told me about the phosphate being a problem. Angie
