Arabian Desert Race

I am wondering if any endurance folks or Arabian 
historians have ever heard of a 3,000 miler Arabian Desert endurance race held 
annually (or at least it was in the 19th and early 20th
 century).

Have read that this race began in Aden and crossed the
Empty Quarter, followed up along the Persian Gulf and 
Iraq and across the desert to Jordan.

Does anyone know anything about this race and where one
might find historical info on it?
