EZ ride replacement stirrups

I bought the replacement pads from EZ ride stirrups to put on the nylon type stirrups on my DeSoto saddle. Now I'm unsure what to use to glue them on so they won't fall off during my ride next week at Goethe. Anyone done this or know how? Also, since these stirrups are about 1/2-3/4" less wide, should I cut them to fit exactly, or leave an overhang (as they're so thick), or would this tear the pads off? Thanks for any suggestions.
