barefoot with her horse in excellent condition.  

And you know this to be true why?  Were you there?  Neither was I so I don't know if the horse was lame or not, however, I would take the word of the vet and experienced riders who were there before I would assume that the above is true, not having been there.  I have, however, ridden the SS ride and would "never" attempt it barefoot, even on Scarlett, who could fly over rocks on her little muley feet.  mb
