farriers

We moved to Virginia from California about a year ago
and I just cannot find a farrier who can do a decent
trim on my barefoot Morgan. Thank goodness he has
rock-solid feet.
Up to now I have relied on word-of-mouth
recommendations (one from a vet) and just haven't been
happy. My boy's been foot-sore for the first time in
his life.
My question is, how do you find a farrier who
understands that we put long miles on our horses but
that they are more than capable of going comfortably
barefoot? Is there a natural trimming certification I
should look for? Questions to ask?
Thanks,
Rebecca (and Piper-Ouchy-Feet)
