Re: Hinny



I have not seen this animal... heard it referred to as a mule tho'.  Hard to
tell by looking if it is a hinny or a mule.
Old timers will tell you that a hinny tends to be more horse like but with
the refinement you see in today's modern mule(better quality, more refined
donkey sires crossed with quality broodmares),  it makes it almost
impossible to tell the difference.  Have to know what the mother was - horse
or jennet - to know for sure.  Most folks prefer a mule over a hinny for
some reason....... I think it is  because the mule tends to attain it's size
(bigger is better in most people's eyes)  from the horse mother whereas a
hinny tends to be smaller is stature and height because its momma is a
donk'.
