RE: french saddles

the most wanted french saddle is made by Gaston Mercier, former 2x winner of European Championship (riding Mao IV).

He makes outstanding quality saddles, no too expensive, nice leather quality, where you get a nice balance. I usually ride with an Orthoflex, but my horse Orfeo is always rubbed at the girth with this orthoflex and I tried all kinds of girths (lambs wool, neoprene, cotton, mohair...etc). My conclusion is that because of the articulated panels, there is a constant movement which rubs the girth area. After 3 years I'm still looking for the solution.

In Dubai on the 2x100 I rode with a Gaston Mercier, and it was nice;

Price is around 10000 French francs or 1500 euros. Don't know the rate because US$ is fluctuating very much those last weeks.

I think that Maya Killa and Cecile were riding on Gaston Mercier saddles.

Subject: RC: french saddles

Hi All,
    I remember a post or 2 about French endurance saddles.  I think they were being sold on Ebay and were brightly colored.  I can't find anything in the archives and I'd like to get more info on the saddles.  Any clues greatly appreciated!
