RE: Training As a Team

Jerry:

I would be cautious in concepts on how to chose a winning team for
International Championships. I refer you to the International Procedures. In
Article VIII
the International Committee abrogated all rights on methods of selection to
the USET!

Simple stated; Section 8.1 The US Team for International Championships shall
be selected by rules and procedures set forth by the United States
Equestrian Team (USET).

No criteria is listed nor is there any discussion as to what the rules may
be. AERC does not enter into the equation.

Now, this does not say there will be no AERC influence , but it does say the
USET (and it does not say the USET Endurance Committee) will establish the
rules and procedures.

In the past when I have requested the se rules and procedures I have been
told it "all depends on the competition to be entered and the location where
it will be held" There are no set rules or procedures they are made up for
each event as far as I could find out.

But then I am an outsider.

Bob

Maureen:
Your comments are well taken. I would submit that for us to send
a team, that stands an excellent chance of winning. The team will have
to be made up of riders that can commit to at least 90 days, of
living and training with each other before shipping overseas. Or,
we can select a team from just one region. Have a regional team
selection process take place. A run off so to speak. In any event,
it is going to take a much larger commitment on the riders part than
we have seen in the past. It is also more of a management issue for
those in charge. I would like to see the US make a commitment
to do it right, train hard, and bring home the Gold. Jerry Fruth
