John Lyons publication, Perfect Horse, is a great magazine to subscribe
to if you are a do-it-yourself horse trainer.  He is very specific and
detailed on all aspects of training;  where you put your leg, how do you
handle the reins, how to despook a horse...etc. etc.  Horses learn to
neck rein, as the other poster stated, by you laying the outside rein
softly against the neck at the same time you apply direct rein and
outside leg.  My young, just started colts figure it out very quickly.  A
tip:  Look the way you want to go.  Good Luck!  Renie
