Old Selam ride - 75 mile distance added



The Old Selam Endurance ride has added a 75 mile distance:

75, 50, 30 & 12 Mile Rides offered

Date: Saturday, September 15, 2001
Starting Times: 75 mile ride @5:00am (First 20 mile loop will be marked by
glow sticks, recommend headlamps for after dark finishers), 50 mile ride
@7:00am, 30 mile ride @ 8:00am, 12 mile ride 9:00am to 12:00 noon.
Trails: The trails are well-marked loops in the same general areas as the
past 5 years. The horse & rider team will be traveling on old logging roads
and trails crossing properties of Oscar Baumhoff, Boise Cascade, U.S. Forest
Service and the State of Idaho.  The 75-mile distance will consist of two
twenty-mile loops, two 15-mile loops and a 5-mile loop. The 50-mile distance
will consist of 1 twenty-mile loop, and two fifteen-mile loops. The 30-mile
distance will consist of two fifteen-mile loops.
Misc: Shoes are required for all horses. All vet checks are in camp. Check-
in and vetting will start at approximately 4:00pm on Friday. Head Vet-Sara
Metcalf, DVM.
Ride Mtg. –7:30pm on Friday. Potluck  (bring a dish to share) dinner on
Saturday evening before the awards mtg.
Awards for the 12, 30 and 50-mile distances will be offered Saturday night.
There will be a short brunch/awards mtg. Sunday morning for the 75 milers.
Dogs Welcome, but must be leashed at all times. Do not bring dogs to ride,
dinner & awards meetings please.
Entry Fees and Rules: 75 mile-$75.00, 50 mile- $65.00, 30 mile- $40.00 & 12
mile- $12.00. All AERC/PNER Rules apply: $10.00 additional to 75/50 /30
milers without a current AERC membership card.
Directions: To Idaho City, Idaho take Highway 21, east of Boise 36 miles to
Idaho City. Turn left onto Montgomery Street through town. Turn left at
roads end, and continue on for 7 miles to New Centerville. Turn right on
Henry’s Creek Road approximately 1 mile to camp. The camp is located on the
private property of Oscar Baumhoff.  Horse & dog water supplied, bring
people water.
