XP Ride - I am disgusted

I had the unfortunate experience of watching the finish of the 2001 XP
ride.  I don't know why that was a AERC sanctioned ride, nor why protests
weren't filed.  I saw horses with hamburger sores on their back that were
given completion awards - and apparantly been like that for a while.  I
saw some horses being given bute and other non-allowables.  I was
EMBARRASSED to be associated with the sport.
