Abcess Treatment

Another handy thing to have in your abcess treatment kit are some
disposable diapers, (sizes small & medium seem best).  They're great for
slathering with poltice, slapping on the cleaned hoof, then sliding a
well-fitted Easy boot over the whole thing.  Fasten the diaper straps
around the fetlock, and secure the whole affair with duct tape or in
whatever fashion works best for you.  You can be more elaborate with
hoof-packing before applying the diaper, if you choose.  The diaper
method works great if your working with a horse that squirms around and
needs "STAND!" training.
